Chamber of deputies19 new petitions online and ready to be signed

Replacing the current national flag with the "Roude Léiw", an end to the Auto-festival, a bus lane on the motorway, an extension of passport validity… These are some of the 19 petitions that can now be signed on the Chamber of Deputies website.

Here a complete summary:

- one man wants to discontinue the Auto-festival, as he considers keeping cars on display to be outdated

- the State should intervene/arbitrate/mediate excessive expensive SNCT costs

- the Red Lion should replace the current national flag

- a widow should receive more rights as regards financial assets

- speed limits in 30km/h zones should only apply during daytime

- according to one petitioner, starting kindergarten and primary school at 8.30 or 8.40am would be more beneficial to children, as opposed to the current 7.50am start

- stricter frameworks as concerns childbirth in order to reduce the number of C-sections

- the introduction of smart traffic lights with the aim of reducing CO2 emissions, braking maneuvers, and waiting times

- a new collective agreement in the national health sector

- the introduction of a bus lane on the motorway

- extending the validity of passports from 5 to 10 years

- the implementation of a law that would guarantee half a day off following blood donations

- a call to affordable housing prices

- one petitioner demands a tax reduction coupled with an increased tax rate for alcohol

- extracts from the business registry (RCSL) should also be available in English

- another petition seeks to forbid the installation of 5G networks in Luxembourg

- an obligatory first aid course in secondary school

- laws to curb environmental pollution

- the development of an official legal procedure that guarantees petitioner’s freedom of expression

These petitions can be signed until 19 May.

If a petition receives more than 4,500 signatures it must be publicly debated in parliament. 28 petitions are currently up for debate in May, including a suggested ban of driven hunts.
