Young Belgian cyclist hit by car during the cyclosport race

The cyclist who sustained serious injuries to his head and back, was taken to the hospital in Kirchberg by rescue helicopter.

As 4 cyclists were descending a hill, a car drove towards them. 3 cyclists, including the Luxembourger Misch Leyder, were able to avoid the car. The fourth cyclist however was hit head on by the car. The young Belgian cyclist, born in 1990, sustained serious injuries.

La Charly Gaule is a cyclosport race held annually to commemorate the famous Luxembourgish cyclist Charly Gaul. Since 2008, the race is held in Echternach. The race is open to every cyclist over the age of 14.
