Several European airports experienced cyberattacks on Saturday morning, affecting check-in and boarding systems, according to multiple media reports.
Airports in Berlin, Brussels, and London were among those impacted. In Brussels, nine flights were cancelled around 7am, while a further 15 were delayed by at least an hour. Check-in and boarding operations at the airport were only possible manually.
Heathrow Airport in London also reported delays, although these were attributed to a technical issue rather than a cyberattack. Berlin’s BER Airport confirmed that it had been affected by a cyberattack, but stated that the airport itself “was not the target of the attack and was only indirectly affected”.
The perpetrators behind the attacks and the full extent of affected airports remain unknown. Lux-Airport confirmed that Luxembourg’s Findel Airport was not impacted.
