
As we head into autumn, we're back to a full agenda – wine tastings galore, concerts, the 'Nuits de Lampions', a film festival, and, of course, the Schueberfouer fireworks. There really is something for everyone this month.
1 September – Art Market Grund – Luxembourg City – ART
Spend your Sunday at the open-air exhibition 'Konscht am Gronn' in the Grund. National and international artists will showcase their art, from paintings and drawings, photography, pottery, woodwork, glassblowing and much more. Rue Munster, Luxembourg: 10:00 – 18:00.
1 – 11 September – Schueberfouer 2024 – Luxembourg City – FAIR
Get ready for non-stop excitement at Luxembourg’s iconic fun fair, the Schueberfouer, with over 216 different stalls and rides. Among the new attractions is the 'Jetlag', replacing the popular Techno Power, along with the caterpillar coaster 'Starlight', the interactive Laser Pix course, the wild river ride 'Wild Wasser Blume', and the eerie new ghost train Spuk. Watch out for spectacular fireworks on the closing day.
2 September – Street Market – Luxembourg City – SHOPPING

Grab yourself a bargain at the Grande Braderie street market in the city. Remember the old saying the “early bird catches the worm”? – In that case head into town for 9:00 to get the best of the traditional autumn clothes sale. Shops open until 19:00.
4 September – Guided Tour: Arboretum – Kirchberg – NATURE
Learn about acorns, beechnuts and other fruits on a guided visit to the arboretum in Kirchberg with botany curator Thierry Helminger. The tour is free, in Luxembourgish, French and English and takes around 1h30. Starts at 18:00. Register here.
5 September – Football: Northern Ireland vs. Luxembourg – SPORT

The Red Lions have two UEFA Nations League games in September. Luxembourg is in Group C3 alongside Bulgaria, Northern Ireland and Belarus. They are playing Northern Ireland on 5 September at 21:00, followed by Belarus on Sunday, 8 September at 15:00. Both games take place at the Stade de Luxembourg. Tickets are available at time of writing.
6 September – MURDER SETS – Carlito's – Luxembourg City – COMEDY
This comedy show brings together international comedians, each armed with their sharpest jokes and killer punchlines. Starring standup comics Niamh Moroney, Tristan Barber and Quinten Quartz Cabrio Leon. Starts at 21:00 at Carlito’s Comedy Club, Luxembourg Gare. You can book early bird tickets here.
6 – 8 September – Grape and Wine Festival – Grevenmacher – FESTIVAL
Three days of ’joie de vivre’ guaranteed at this wine festival which sees the coronation of the wine queen, firework show on the banks of the Moselle, show band parade, folkloric procession and lots of tastings of local wines. For the full programme, visit here.
7 September – Organ Recital – Notre Dame Cathedral – Luxembourg City – MUSIC
Take a moment from Saturday shopping to listen to Alexia Tye playing the organ in Notre Dame Cathedral. Entrance is free. 11:00 to 11:30.
8 September – Football: Belarus vs. Luxembourg – SPORT
The Red Lions hare playing Belarus, as part of the UEFA Nations League games in September. Luxembourg is in Group C3 alongside Bulgaria, Northern Ireland and Belarus. This game takes place at the Stade de Luxembourg at 15:00. Tickets are available at time of writing.
11 & 12 September – pOpera – Philharmonie – Luxembourg City – MUSIC

12 September – NT Live: Nye – Ciné Utopia – Luxembourg City – CINEMA
A new play, starring Michael Sheen as Nye Bevan, the man who transformed Britain’s welfare state and created the NHS in the UK is being broadcast by London’s National Theatre. Ciné Utopia at 19:00.
12 & 14 September – Past Meets Present – Musée national d'histoire et d'art – ART
Guided by 3D artist Pit Molling and Anais Recken, you can explore the National Art museum in search of inspiration for designing and 3D printing your own jewellery, coins and pottery. Tickets cost €25.
13–14 September – LOA Musical Festival – Luxembourg City – MUSIC

LOA Luxembourg Open Air has unveiled its full line-up for the season-closing festival, featureing an impressive roster of international DJs and local talent set to energise Place de l’Europe in Kirchberg. Listen to Today Radio for features and competitions to win tickets.
14 September – Meditation Guided Tour – Mudam – Luxembourg City – MEET
Two yoga teachers will take you through the galleries at the Mudam, where you will be invited to observe, contemplate and connect with both exhibitions and yourself. No prior meditation experience required. €10 per person. Ages 16+. Book here.
14–15 September – RIESLING Open – Moselle – FESTIVAL

Immerse yourself and head down to the Moselle for the RIESLING Open on the third weekend of September. Meet the producers, explore the cellars and estates and taste some delicious local Riesling in Wormeldange, Ehnen, Ahn and Machtum. See here for a list of producers and full programme.
14 – 15 September - Improv Taster Workshop – Luxembourg City - MEET
Spice up your weekend and join a joyful & creative workshop where you will explore the principles of improv: listening, "yes and...", working as a team, and embracing & celebrating failure & mistakes. This workshop is suitable for absolute beginners. Takes place both days at 10:00-12:00 at CID Fraen an Gender, 1222 Luxembourg. Tickets are €25.
15 September – Naturmusee-Fest 2024 – Luxembourg City – MEET
An opportunity to discover the atmosphere of the National History Museum and take a look behind the scenes on how the museum promotions environmental protection and education. Lots of stands, workshops, games and discovery tours. Participation in workshops and admission to the museum are free. Starts at 11:00.
16 September – Tour Collections/Revelations – Luxembourg City – ART
A guided tour in English through a new collection of modern and contemporary art – from sculptures, painting, photography to video installations at the National Museum of Art & History. The new exhibition draws parallels between works from different periods and genres, with a focus on colour, forms and motifs. Tour starts at 15:00 and tickets are free.
16 September – Haken – Rockhal – Esch/Belval – MUSIC
Haken
Discover one of the best modern progressive rock bands: Haken at the Rockhal. Hailing from southern England, the sextet have released several distinct albums since their 2010 debut. Check out Stephen ‘Steps’ Lowe’s interview with Rich Henshall, following their visit to Luxembourg last year.
16 September onwards - Fundamentals of Improv -Luxembourg City – MEET
Unwind after work and make new friends with this creative course where we will be spontaneous, let go of our inhibitions and have plenty of laughs together. Not only is Improv fun, it gives you transferable skills such as effective listening, teamwork, being present, and accepting and enjoying failures. This 6-week course takes place every Monday at Oscars Bar in the Grund from 19:00-21:00. Cost: €239.00
16-21 September – British & Irish Film Festival – Luxembourg City – CINEMA

The British & Irish Film Festival screens films from Ireland, England Scotland Wales and Northern Ireland, including dramas and documentaries as well as thrillers, biopics and animation. The full programme of films to be screened and special guests attending will be announced at the beginning of September.
17 September – Awa Odori – Place d’Armes – Luxembourg City - DANCE
The Japanese embassy is sponsoring free traditional dance performances by the dance group “Takarubune”. Shows of 20-30 minutes are taking place on Place d’Armes at 12:30, 15:00 and 18:00.
18 September – Lunch with the Luxembourg Philharmonic – Philharmonie – MUSIC
Watch the Luxembourg Philharmonic rehearse Sergei Prokofiev's Symphony No. 3 for its opening concert this season. Performance is at 12:30-13:00. Free entry.
18 September – The Pretenders – den Atelier – Luxembourg City – MUSIC
The Pretenders, formed by Chrissy Hynde are back, playing at den Atelier. Their resilience, coupled with Hynde's charismatic presence, cements their legacy as influential pioneers of alternative rock. This event is sold out, but listen to Today Radio for a competition to win free tickets.
18 September – Josh Island – Kineksbond – Mamer – MUSIC
Showcasing songs from his debut album, “In My Head”, Luxembourg’s very own Josh Island is performing at the Kinneksbond, a year and a half after his first performance there. Doors open at 19:30. Tickets are €15.
20 September – Sam Feldt – den Atelier – Luxembourg City – MUSIC
Amsterdam’s Sam Feldt is in Luxembourg, playing at den Atelier. He is a producer and DJ and has worked on tracks like “Follow Me” with Rita Ora, “Hate Me” featuring Salem Ilese and the Jonas Blue collaboration “Crying on the Dancefloor” with Violet Days. Doors open at 21:00.
20 September – Women, Art & Computing – Mudam – Luxembourg City – ART
A new exhibition at the Mudam, 'Radical Software: Women, Art & Computing 1960–1991' presents work by artists who were amongst the first to use the computer – mainframe and minicomputers – as a tool for art making. They are accompanied by other artists who made the computer their subject or worked in a computational way.
20 – 21 September – Nuits des Lampions – Wiltz – ART
Nuits de Lampions
One of Luxembourg’s highlight events, the Nuits de Lampions is a showcase for national and international artists, who transform the Jardin de Wiltz into a fairytale landscape with lanterns, concerts, performances and fantastic shows.
21 September – Oumou Sangaré – Philharmonie – Luxembourg City – MUSIC
Performing in Luxembourg for the first time, this is a unique opportunity to hear Malian singer Oumou Sangaré and her band, performing at the Philharmonie.
24 September – Kiasmos – Atelier – Luxembourg City – MUSIC
This year sees Kiasmos, the highly influential electronic duo Olafur Arnalds and Janus Rasmussen return to the live stage for the first time in over 5 years.
25 September – Trash! – Kineksbond – Mamer – THEATRE
Yllana and the Töthem Company return with a symphony of comedy sketches, centred around on four workers in a recycling factory, who transform rejected objects such as umbrellas, balloons, toolboxes into new musical instruments. At Kinneksbond in Mamer at 20:00. Tickets start at €25.
25-27 September – Dom Juan – Grand Theatre – Luxembourg City – THEATRE
An opportunity to see the Molière classic, Dom Juan in French with English surtitles. The Theatre du Nord is bringing its reinterpretation of the play, probing the issue of whether statues steeped in controversy should be dismantled and if revered texts warrant revision or retirement. Starts at 20:00. Tickets start at €15 for adult tickets.
26 September – Pope visit – Luxembourg City – VISIT
The Pope will spend eight hours Luxembourg on a state visit, before heading to Belgium, where he is due to hold a large mass. After meeting the Grand Duke and Duchess and Prime Minister, he will drive through the city, greeting the public from around 13:00 from his vehicle. A break will follow, before the Pope meets members of the Catholic Church at the Luxembourg City cathedral from 16:30 onwards.
26 September – Fred Armisen – den Atelier – Luxembourg City – COMEDY
Known for playing Uncle Fester in the Netflix show “Wednesday” and Leslie in the Netflix show “Unstable”, the comedian, writer, producer, and musician Fred Armisen will be putting on a show at den Atelier in Luxembourg. Tickets cost €34.50 and doors open at 19:00. Listen out to Today Radio for the competition to win free tickets to this event.
27 September – Rock Against Cancer – Rockhal – Esch/Belval – MUSIC

28 September – Salon du Tissu – LuxExpo – Luxembourg City – SHOPPING

Whether you’re looking for fabrics for clothing, curtains, furniture, merchandise, haberdashery, sewing machines or simply for inspiration, head to the DIY fashion fair “Salon du Tissu” as over 40 companies will be there to help you find whatever you are looking for. 10:00-15:00. Free admission.
29 September – Kalush Orchestra – Rockhal – Esch/Belval – MUSIC

Kalush Orchestra, best known for winning the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest are coming to Luxembourg for the first time. With a combination of ethnic music with modern sound production, hip-hop dances and Ukrainian-language rap, you will discover a band which represent the bright Ukrainian scene and also contribute to a charity project. For every Kalush Orchestra ticket sold on Cin’East website, 5 euros is donated to “cineeast4Ukraine” - a project created in February 2022 after the invasion of Ukraine. September 29 – ING Half Marathon – Route du Vin – Moselle - SPORT

The ING Route du Vin half-marathon is the oldest road race in Luxembourg athletics. Enjoy a 21km run through the vineyards along the Moselle. For the first time this year, you can do a Team Run with two running mates, where one participant runs 7km, the second runs 6km and the third, 8km.
