1. See Krick’s debut at Rockhal

What: Pop and R&B from Luxembourg vocal star

Warm vocals, lush arrangements and a visual world that balances strength and emotion – Krick brings her bold new era to the stage at Rockhal. We’ve been big fans since her participation in the finals of the Luxembourg Song Contest 2024. With her new album and fresh singles like “My Way” and “Way Too Busy,” and a sound inspired by jazz, R&B and a hint of Disney magic, this show is set to be something real. Support comes from Josh Island.

2. Explore the Christmas market at Wiltz Castle

3. Sing (or listen to) Christmas Carols

There’s nothing like some carol singing to get you in the festive spirit. On Saturday, 13 December at 5pm, everyone is welcome to join in with the All Nations Church of Luxembourg’s Christmas carol singing in Limpertsberg. Warm up to Silent Night, Joy To The World, and O Holy Night.

4. Hear the hammer striking to Mahler

What: Mahler’s 6th Symphony

Experience Mahler like never before as the Luxembourg Philharmonic performs his gargantuan symphony on Thursday. A specially invented instrument – a 10 kg hammer striking a massive wooden box – marks the dramatic “blows of fate”. Feel the power and emotional complexity of this legendary work in full force.

5. Go to a kids cinema

What: The Grinch and Home Alone
Where: 1 Rue de la Montée, L-4981 Reckange-sur-Mess, Luxembourg

Reckange-sur-Mess is hosting a family-friendly cinema evening this week at the Pëtzenhaus, with screenings of The Grinch at 5.30pm and Home Alone at 7.30pm, both shown in German with French subtitles. Food and drinks are available, and the set-up has been designed for comfort, with cushions and chairs provided and the option to bring a blanket. Presented by the municipality and local partners, and this tip came from What’s On: Family Edition!

6. Visit Luxembourg City’s Winterlights

During the festive season, Winterlights transforms Luxembourg City into a warm and magical place filled with lights, music, and joyful moments for residents and visitors alike. Giant Christmas trees, rides for children, trampolines, the giant pyramid and the ferris wheel will delight visitors of all ages. And don’t miss out on the free workshops and endless food stands. There’s something going on every day.

7. See fresh take on Hansel and Gretel

What: Fairytale in Luxembourgish
Where: Grand Théâtre, 1, rond-point Schuman, L-2525 Luxembourg

Writer Cosimo Suglia and director Daliah Kentges reunite to bring a fresh Luxembourgish take on the Grimm brothers’ Hänsel a Gréidel, continuing the Grand Théâtre’s festive tradition of reimagining classics through a contemporary lens. Missing their mother and ignored by their struggling father, the two siblings wander into the forest and stumble upon a gingerbread house. A spellbinding journey begins, blending theatre, music, and dance.
