Children’s Literature Festival "Book On!" returns to Luxembourg – celebrating nature, stories and creativity.
Now in its third edition, the family-friendly festival invites children aged 4-14 to explore the world of books through music, theatre, film, and hands-on workshops – all centred on themes of nature and the environment.
Held at Abbey Neimënster, the event features authors, illustrators and performers from across Europe offering multilingual activities in Luxembourgish, French, German, Italian, Polish, English and Lithuanian.
Organised by the Lithuanian Community in Luxembourg, with support from the Lithuanian Council for Culture and Luxembourg’s Ministry of Culture.

Step into the Middle Ages at Useldange Castle!
This summer, young adventurers are invited to explore the medieval world during a family-friendly tour of Château d’Useldange.
The engaging 90-minute experience is specially designed for families with children aged 6 and up. A guide will take participants on a fascinating journey through the castle’s rich history – with stories told in a fun, accessible way. Little ones can dress up as knights, adding a playful touch to the event.

Travel back to the 10th century and explore how the medieval city of Luxembourg was born.
Designed for curious young minds, this interactive journey uses models, ancient charters, and archaeological artefacts from the permanent exhibition to tell the story of Lucilinburhuc, the original castle that sparked the rise of Luxembourg.
Led by the Luxembourg City Museum, the adventure continues outside with a visit to the archaeological crypt on Rue de la Reine, where the remains of 12th-century fortifications still stand.
Perfect for families with children aged 5 and older, this two-hour experience brings history to life – right in the heart of the capital.

This two-hour experience highlights the vital role of nature conservation, the mysteries of bird migration, and the science behind bird ringing – a method used to monitor bird populations and their migratory patterns.
Don’t forget to dress for the weather and wear sturdy shoes for this outdoor adventure.

Pottery workshop for children.
In this introductory pottery workshop, children will discover the basics of clay modelling – exploring the theme of the garden through hands-on creativity.
Led by LUGA, the session introduces two foundational techniques: la plaque (the slab) and le colombin (the coil), as children shape simple garden-themed objects from raw clay. The workshop offers a space for free expression, encouraging creativity through direct contact with the material.
At the end of the session, all pieces will be left to dry for future decoration or firing. No prior experience is required. Please bring an apron.

In the heart of the city, prepare for an invasion of puppet martians – landing near the Municipal Park!
Join the fun at the LUGA Culture Hub as Poppentheater Hoplabum, created and performed by Pit Vinandy, brings the whimsical world of De Marsmännchen (The Martians) to life.
In this playful puppet show, a garbage crisis in the Municipal Park leads to the arrival of a mysterious green creature from space. As the animals panic and the park’s guardian, Ackermann, tries to capture the visitor, the Martian reveals an important lesson: how to clean up and protect the environment through sorting and recycling.
With music, improvisation, and audience interaction, children will be engaged with story – singing, laughing, and learning along the way.
Celebrating over 28 years of performances, Poppentheater Hoplabum is a cherished Luxembourg tradition – perfect for families looking for meaningful entertainment.
