You've already got the monthly What's On picks for family, but it's time you got the weekly low-down. Here are some of our favourite events for the next seven days.

With the festive season in full flow, countless Christmas markets, and end of year celebrations, you may be forgiven for neglecting some of the family-oriented events available in the Grand Duchy this week. This weeks pick offer a selection for everybody, with acting for teenagers, cinema for young and old, and mum and toddler meet and greets.

Monday

At the Eltereforum this Monday, parents can drop in for a relaxed play group where children aged 0-4 can mix with peers and adults can swap questions, tips and a bit of conversation over coffee or tea. It’s an easy way to meet others, pick up ideas for play and give little ones time to explore freely. More details here.

Tuesday

Only one creative pick today, but it’s a strong one. At the Kulturhaus in Niederanven, you can roll up your sleeves for a ceramics workshop that works just as well for families as for solo crafters. You choose your pieces, decorate them with drawing, stamping or speckling, and the malmal team takes care of glazing and firing before you collect the finished work a couple of weeks later. Wednesday

This evening brings a our relationship to nature to Remerschen, where the Biodiversum hosts the opening of Nature et Infrastructures, a new photo exhibition by Andrés Lejona. The work explores the hidden structures, such as wildlife bridges, that protect Luxembourg’s biodiversity and shows how these often inaccessible sites underpin efforts to tackle the climate crisis. Thursday

Esch-sur-Alzette has a lively cultural option this week: a theatre workshop built around Molière’s Dom Juan. Led by a member of the troupe, it invites participants to try out acting techniques, work in groups and build confidence while exploring one of the great comic texts. It’s open to anyone aged sixteen and over, with no prior experience needed. More details here.

Friday

Reckange-sur-Mess is hosting a family-friendly cinema evening this week at the Pëtzenhaus, with screenings of The Grinch at 17.30 and Home Alone at 19.30, both shown in German with French subtitles. Food and drinks are available, and the set-up has been designed for comfort, with cushions and chairs provided and the option to bring a blanket. Presented by the municipality and local partners. Saturday

Hesperange offers a winter outing today with The Forest Detectives, a family walk that mixes games, stories and a look at how animals cope with the cold season. Children can help decorate a Christmas tree, explore the woods with their parents or grandparents and finish with warm soup and Christmas punch. Weather-appropriate clothing is essential, and places are limited. More details here.

Sunday

Sanem hosts a family matinée this Sunday as Harmonie de Soleuvre, the youth ensemble and Ehlerange’s little harmony come together for their annual winter concert. Held at School 2000, the programme weaves musical stories for audiences of all ages, with free entry and a collection for a good cause. More details here.

Luxembourg City will also usher in the festive season on Sunday with Carols by Candlelight at the Konvikt Chapel. Beginning at 6pm, the service offers traditional carols in an atmospheric setting and is open to all who wish to join. More details here.
