While it might seem like summer barely even started, school is already around the corner: time to learn the best spots to buy school supplies.
Before the school supply adventure truly begins, let’s mention that each school does things a little differently here in Luxembourg. Some may ask for a specific amount of money to then get all the kids the same basic necessities. Other schools might use tablets for the majority of their classes, so you won't have to buy much. If you need to order books or buy specific items on your kids' supply lists, pay attention to specifications (sizes, amounts, materials, etc.) and make eco-friendly choices wherever possible.
When it comes to the average school supplies – a.k.a. backpacks, notebooks, pencils, etc. – there are many places to explore in Luxembourg. In this list, you'll find the basic and the not-so-basic materials of all prices to cover the kids whose joy lies in destruction and those who are stationary-obsessed.
Budget friendly options
Let's be real, sometimes what is easy on the wallet doesn’t always last. But hey, you might not need crayons, folders, or pencils to last a lifetime.
HEMA
With budget-friendly and colourful patterned options, it’s clear to see why HEMA is a classic stop for school supplies. Although there are multiple locations in Luxembourg, here's the address to the one right in the city centre.

Aldi
The thing with Aldi is that you may not always find what you need at the exact time you need it – but if you manage, it'll be a great deal. Expect to cross off a couple items off of your list rather than a huge shopping haul.

Monoprix
Monoprix also has lots of materials – from store to well-known brands. Careful though, as Monop' will have a smaller selection than the bigger Monoprix stores you'll find in Gare and in the city centre.
Cactus (Hobbi)
Cactus (Hobbi) will certainly have all the stationery goods you may need, and it's best to embrace it while it still exists. But keep in mind that any Cactus will have a selection of school supply basics too.
Leclerc
Similar to Cactus and Monoprix, you'll find a range of school supplies in lots of locations.
