Anna Calvi is set to enchant the Neumünster stage on July 10th with her highly acclaimed 3rd album ‘Hunter’.
The multi-instrumentalist, who has been compared to Patti Smith, is known for combining her outstanding guitar skills with a marvelous voice.
In her music she explore issues of gender and femininity, as she puts it herself: ''I believe that gender is a spectrum. I believe that if we were allowed to be somewhere in the middle, not pushed to the extremes of performed masculinity and femininity, we would all be more free. I want to explore how to be something other than just what I’ve been assigned to be.’'
She describes the intent of her current album ''to be primal and beautiful, vulnerable and strong, to be the hunter and the hunted.’' Hence, Calvi explores the ambiguity of human life in her music and tries to go ''beyond gender’’.
