Tonight on The Artist Hour, we're celebrating one of the decade's most exciting indie storytellers: Courtney Barnett.
With the release of her first solo EP, I’ve Got a Friend Called Emily Ferris, in 2012, Barnett established herself as one of Australia’s most exciting new voices.
Before striking out on her own, Courtney played guitar in Melbourne band Immigrant Union and ran her own indie label, Milk! Records.
International attention caught up to her, following the Double EP: A Sea of Split Peas in 2013, which lead to her debut album Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit in 2015. The album went on to win four ARIA Music Awards and solidify her spot in the indie hall of fame.
The album showcases both her lyrical sharpness and her ability to capture whole worlds in a few offhand lines.
Join us tonight for this week's Artist Hour, airing at 8pm.
