Over the past week, a surprising theory has gained traction online: Timothée Chalamet, the acclaimed Hollywood actor, could be secretly moonlighting as the masked UK rapper EsDeeKid.
The Rumour
EsDeeKid, who hails from Liverpool, performs in a balaclava and has kept his real identity hidden – sparking widespread speculation among fans and social media sleuths alike.

The “Evidence”
Those pushing the theory, which appeares to have sprouted from a TikTok video, point to a series of uncanny coincidences – some a little more outlandish than others: both names share a double “ee” (Timothée, EsDeeKid), side-by-side comparisons of their eyes and fashion sense, and Chalamet’s appearance at a London show by rapper Fakemink (a frequent EsDeeKid collaborator).
The actor’s known skill with accents – demonstrated in works like The King, also fuels speculation that he could pull off EsDeeKid’s thick Scouse vocal style.
Curiously, Chalamet didn't issue a denial when faced with the rumours; instead he responded with a single “👀” emoji under a related Instagram post.
The Reality Check
Despite the intrigue, strong doubts remain. Maintaining a double life as a chart-rising rapper and major film actor would require logistical gymnastics, and no definitive proof has emerged beyond social media sleuthing.
For now, the story continues to spread because it reflects something deeper: our fascination with celebrity mysteries, hidden alter-egos, and the blurring lines between actor, musician, and myth.
Until someone lifts the balaclava or Timothée gives a longer comment than an emoji, the theory will live on – part detective work, part performance art.
