Paul Kalkbrenner’s latest single Ninety-Two offers a modern twist on classic rave energy, previewing his upcoming album The Essence, due this September.

What would 1992 sound like today if rave culture had never paused? Paul Kalkbrenner's new single Ninety-Two imagines exactly that – delivering 130 BPM of hypnotic rhythm, a haunting vocal sample from classic UK rave tapes, and a stripped-down, modern pulse.

It’s a standout track from his upcoming album The Essence, already igniting dancefloors ahead of its September release.

Far from retro nostalgia, Ninety-Two reinterprets a familiar sound through a contemporary lens. “It’s what rave might sound like today if it had just kept evolving,” Kalkbrenner explains.

The cut, like the album, is both a memory and a progression, a deeply personal reflection shaped over several years in his uniquely styled apartment studio.

The Essence marks Kalkbrenner’s first album since Parts of Life (2018) and is his most cohesive yet. “I had stopped thinking in terms of albums,” he says. “But these tracks grew organically, and I realized I had something I could fully stand behind. There are no fillers here. Not even a filler moment.”

Kalkbrenner has wowed Grand Duchy audiences over the years, with shows at Rockhal, den A and Open Air. With a career spanning over two decades, Berlin-born Kalkbrenner remains a singular force in electronic music.

From his breakout in Berlin Calling to festival headlines, chart success, and a live performance for 400,000 at the Berlin Wall anniversary, he continues to bridge underground roots with global appeal.
