Sleaford Mods are back with a bang, unveiling their new single Megaton via Rough Trade Records.
Built on pulsing beats and moody electronics, the track bristles with Jason Williamson’s cutting bars aimed squarely at cultural mediocrity. It’s the duo’s first new music since their 2023 album UK GRIM, and it’s both groove-heavy and uncompromising.
The release also continues their partnership with War Child, with all profits from Megaton going to support the charity’s work with children affected by conflict.
Alongside the digital drop, a limited seven-inch edition is available for pre-order, featuring Give ‘Em What They Want as the B-side. Red, blue, and black vinyl pressings will roll out across the band’s store, indie shops, and general sale.
“Megaton, No War No Death!” declares Williamson, describing a society overwhelmed by trauma, division, and distraction. The track’s chaotic energy inspired a striking video shot by artist Nick Waplington at Speakers’ Corner in Hyde Park, a historic hub of protest and debate.
“At a time when free expression feels under attack, working with Sleaford Mods at this iconic space felt urgent and right,” Waplington said.

War Child praised the collaboration, with Live Music Lead Clare Sanders-Wright calling Megaton “an epic track” that will directly support children living through war. “Every copy sold makes a real difference”, she said.
Megaton is out now on all streaming platforms, with the limited seven-inch single set to follow.
