Ahead of their set at the Rock Justice Festival on 13 June, Luxembourg alt-rock outfit Deep Dive Culture dropped by Drive Time with Ethan Carey to talk new music, live shows, and the balancing act of writing songs that hit hard while staying true to their sound.
The visit marked the first in a series of guest appearances from Rock Justice Festival artists on Today Radio. With more interviews set to air in the coming weeks, the band set the tone with a high-energy session that blended personal insights, festival excitement and a raw, emotionally charged live performance.
During the interview, frontman Kevin Heinen and drummer Chris May offered a look behind the scenes of their upcoming album, recorded at Unison Studios with producers Tom Gatti and Billy Kaufmann. While the full release is still under wraps, the band revealed that the new material leans into a more direct, accessible sound without sacrificing the energy and honesty they’re known for.
The band explained that they’ve drawn inspiration from groups like Nothing But Thieves, Dinosaur Pile-Up and Deftones, as well as from pop and hip-hop songwriting structures. The goal is music that hits hard but remains true to their artistic voice.
“We’re trying to find the middle ground between what we love to play and what really moves a crowd,” said Heinen. “For Fête de la Musique, it’s going to be all energy, bangers only.”
For their upcoming set at Fête de la Musique, Deep Dive Culture will open the Rock Justice Festival stage at 3PM in Hamilius Square. Their plan is simple: full energy from the start.
They also shared their excitement about performing on what will be the biggest Rock Justice stage to date, complete with lights, festival decor and pyrotechnics. With a jam packed lineup and Today Radio covering the event in full, the stage is set for an unforgettable day.
“I’ve never had pyro on stage before,” said Heinen. “I hope I don’t jump out of my skin but I can’t wait.”
