Lincoln, NE’s rising grunge-shoegaze trio Ivory Daze have dropped Corset, the latest single from their upcoming EP Chlorine, due 17 October via Quiet Panic (home to M.U.T.T. and Slow Crush).
Guitarist/vocalist Isahen Harms cites the layered chorus guitars of ’80s icons like Purple Rain-era Prince and the massive fuzz of The Melvins and Smashing Pumpkins as key inspirations.
Rounded out by Maeve Nelson on drums and Van Foster on bass, the band has honed its sound through relentless touring and hard-won experience, crafting music that’s both raw and finely tuned.
We at Today Radio really rather like this slice of Feeder-esque, My Vitiriol-y grunge and featured lead single 'Corset' on Tuesday's New Noise,
Harms calls it “pop songs with distortion,” but Ivory Daze’s mix of shoegaze haze, grunge grit, and punk bite is far from simple.
Chlorine nails that balance of chaos and melody, there's that classic guitar-driven intensity and enough of a modern edge to make it sound fresh and exciting. You'll likely spin it more than once – we promise.
