The film industry is in mourning after Blade Runner actor Rutger Hauer passed away.

Hollywood actor Rutger Hauer, best known for his role in Blade Runner, has died after a brief illness, various Dutch media reported Wednesday, quoting family sources.

"Rutger Hauer has died at the age 75. He is regarded as one of the Netherlands' greatest actors," the ANP news wire said, adding that he passed away on Friday and was buried at a private ceremony. The actor died on 19 July, although his death was only announced on 25 July.
