The British & Irish Film Festival Luxembourg will return for its 16th edition this September, opening with Nadia Fall's Brides and closing with Jim Sheridan and David Merriman's Re-Creation at Ciné Utopia.

The British & Irish Film Festival Luxembourg (BIFFL) returns this autumn for its 16th edition, taking place from 14–21 September at Ciné Utopia in Limpertsberg. Organisers have confirmed the opening and closing films, with the full programme to be revealed later this week.

Opening Film: Brides

The festival begins on Sunday 14 September with Brides, directed by Nadia Fall. The drama follows two teenage girls from the UK who set out on a dangerous journey towards Syria. As their plan unravels, their friendship and beliefs are pushed to the limit.

The screening will be followed by a reception hosted by the British Embassy in Luxembourg and Festival Events Asbl.

Closing Film: Re-Creation

The Autumn Edition concludes on Sunday 21 September with Re-Creation, co-directed by Jim Sheridan and David Merriman. Paying homage to 12 Angry Men, the film brings together Vicky Krieps, Sheridan himself, John Connors, Aidan Gillen and Colm Meaney in a jury room drama based on the real-life case of Ian Bailey.

The closing night includes the BIFFL Awards, a Q&A, and a reception.

Tickets are priced at €10 for all Ciné Utopia screenings and are available now. The complete programme, including additional screenings before and after the main dates, will be announced in the coming days.
