Matthieu Osch became the first Luxembourg athlete to compete at the 2026 Olympic Games, finishing 50th in the men’s giant slalom on Saturday. Wearing bib number 59, the 26-year-old alpine skiing specialist clocked 1'25'’06 in the first run, more than 11 seconds behind the fastest time of 1'13'’92, set by Brazil’s Lucas Pinheiro Braathen.

Osch was among 81 competitors in the event. Skiing late in the morning, the Luxembourger faced softer snow and deteriorating conditions on the Stelvio course due to unusually mild temperatures, a disadvantage as the surface quality declined throughout the session.

The athlete, who serves in Luxembourg’s military, is competing in his third Olympic Games after appearances at PyeongChang 2018 and Beijing 2022. He is also the flag bearer of Luxembourg’s two-athlete delegation at these Games.
