A remarkable achievement amid challenging snow and visibility conditions, Osch delivered a strong performance as dozens of athletes failed to complete the men’s slalom. He clocked the 28th fastest time, finishing 8.08 seconds behind the leader. Osch had initially been ranked 29th but moved up one place following a competitor’s disqualification.
After placing 46th in the giant slalom at the weekend, the Luxembourger improved significantly in the slalom discipline.
Conditions improved for the second run, during which Osch – third on the start list based on his earlier result – completed the course in 1:03.24. Though he appeared to struggle in some of the more technical sections, he was more than satiated with his performance after crossing the finish line.
Among the favourites, France’s Paco Rassattook the lead in the first run, while reigning Olympic champion Clément Noël finished seventh, nearly two seconds behind Norwegian leader Atle Lie McGrath. Final standings will be confirmed once all competitors have completed their runs.
