Miralem Pjanić, who began his football journey in Luxembourg with FC Schëffleng, has announced his retirement at 35 after around 780 appearances and 115 caps for Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Miralem Pjanić has announced his retirement from football at the age of 35, bringing an end to a career that included around 780 matches across club and international football. The midfielder, who holds both Bosnian and Luxembourg nationality, played for clubs including Metz, Lyon, Roma, Juventus, Barcelona, and Besiktas, finishing his professional career most recently in Moscow.

During his time at Juventus, Pjanić also earned himself the reputation of a “free-kick guru”.

Pjanić’s football journey began in Luxembourg as a youth player with FC Schëffleng, where he also featured for the FLF youth teams. At senior international level, he chose to represent Bosnia and Herzegovina, earning 115 caps and scoring 18 goals.
