The Ironman 70.3 Luxembourg took place in Remich on Sunday morning, although organisers announced early in the day that the swimming leg in the Moselle had been cancelled due to blue-green algae.

The 1.9-kilometre swim was therefore scrapped, effectively turning the triathlon into a duathlon. Athletes still had to complete the 90-kilometre cycling course and the 21.1-kilometre run.

With the swimming leg removed, the start procedure was slightly adjusted. The race got under way at around 8.25am in pleasant temperatures of 21°C. Conditions grew warmer as the race progressed, making it increasingly important for competitors to cool down.

Shortly before 11am, the first athletes completed the cycling leg, including Luxembourg's Moris Brust and Adrien Rossignon. Rossignon then pulled clear during the run to claim the Luxembourg championship title in a time of 3 hours, 46 minutes, and 18 seconds.

Overall victory in the men's race went to Belgium's Jente Van Mulders, who finished in 3 hours, 37 minutes, and 51 seconds.

In the women's race, Luxembourg's Anna Reiff was the overall winner. She crossed the finish line in 4 hours, 3 minutes, and 37 seconds to claim both the Ironman victory and the Luxembourg championship title.
