17-year-old Yoan Pereira from Luxembourg lifted the trophy on Thursday with the Portuguese U-17s.

Portugal's U17s beat Austria 1–0 in Qatar on Thursday to become world champions with a Luxembourger in their squad – 17-year-old Yoan Pereira.

The defender scored in the semi-final penalty shootout against Brazil to secure his team's place in the final, where he came on as a substitute in the 66th minute to help keep their 1-0 lead.

Pereira was born in Luxembourg in 2008 and joined clubs in Oberkorn and Rodange as well as Racing FC Union Luxembourg,  before moving to an academy in Portugal. After a year in Alba's U15s he joined FC Porto in 2023.
