Police and labour inspectors conducted a large-scale joint operation in the Bonnevoie and Gare neighbourhoods on Wednesday, resulting in multiple fines and arrests for drug, immigration, and labour violations.

In a coordinated operation on Wednesday, police and the Inspectorate of Labour and Mines (ITM) conducted large-scale checks at premises in the Bonnevoie and Gare neighbourhoods of Luxembourg City.

The primary objective was to verify compliance with laws governing licensed premises and restaurants, as well as drug and immigration legislation.

During the operation, authorities issued three fines and two penalty notices for drug-related offences. Separately, three penalty notices were drawn up for breaches of legislation covering licensed premises and the Labour Code.

Officials checked 10 individuals who were already known to the Ministry of Home Affairs. One person underwent an identity check, and another was fingerprinted. Two further individuals were found to be subject to active arrest warrants. They were taken into custody at the Uerschterhaff Penitentiary Centre following a medical examination.

The large-scale operation involved 19 police officers from various units, supported by six agents from the ITM.
