National coach Jeff Strasser has announced his squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Germany and Slovakia.

Progrès Niederkorn's Kenan Avdusinovic will make his national debut, attributed to his recent achievements in the Luxembourgish league, Strasser said at a press conference on Thursday.

Notably absent from the squad is Mica Pinto, as he is currently without a club and seeking a new contract. Strasser said he was not sufficiently match fit as a result. Forward Danel Sinani will sit out the game against Germany next week due to suspension, but will return against Slovakia. Dany Mota has not been called up to the national team this time.

Christopher Martins makes a return to the squad following the injury which caused him to miss the previous fixtures against Northern Ireland and Slovakia in September.

Strasser revealed there had been further discussions with the 16-year-old Brian Madjo, although the teenager has decided to continue playing for England's Under-17s.

After two games, Luxembourg's national team is the only team in Group A without a single point. On 10 October the Red Lions face Germany, who themselves are facing pressure following their defeat to Slovakia. Strasser said he is well aware of the quality of Julian Nagelsmann's men, and they will have to find a solution to the counterattack. To date, Luxembourg have won just one out of thirteen encounters with their neighbours.

For the match against Slovakia, Strasser said the game at the Stade de Luxembourg last month allowed them to learn many lessons and to work on certain aspects of the game. Their goal is to improve on their performance when they head to Slovakia on 13 October, in order to win three points for Luxembourg.

Strasser's first two games in the World Cup qualifiers ended in defeat, losing 3-1 to Northern Ireland and conceding one goal to Slovakia.

There are four matches left in the group stage; however, two of those are against Germany, and three away from home.

The Red Lions' fixtures are as follows:

Friday 10 October 8.45pm Germany - Luxembourg
Monday 13 October 8.45pm Slovakia - Luxembourg
Friday 14 November 8.45pm Luxembourg - Germany
Monday 17 November 8.45pm Northern Ireland - Luxembourg

As always, the games will be broadcast live on television and on RTL websites.
