The World Aquatics Championships are in full flow in Singapore until 3 August. On Sunday, several Luxembourgish swimmers took to the water for the first time, albeit without pleasing results.

There is still room for improvement for some of the Grand Duchy's swimmers after their first swimming events at the 2025 championships.

Julien Henx was the first Luxembourger to compete on Sunday. The 30 year old from the Luxembourg Sharks managed a time of 24.12 seconds in the 50-metre crawl, coming fourth in his qualification group. Unfortunately this was not sufficient to qualify for the semi-finals, leaving Henx in 42nd place of 97 swimmers.

João Carneiro competed in the 100-metre breaststroke, coming in last place in his qualifying heat with a time of 1:02:38, around two seconds slower than first place. The 21 year old came 44th out of 72 participants and did not qualify for the next round.

The final race of the day was the 4x100-metre crawl relay. Luxembourg was represented by Ralph Daleiden Ciuferri, Rémi Fabiani, João Carneiro and Julien Henx. Sadly, the Grand Duchy came last out of the 20 participating nations, with a time of 3:21:39, ten seconds slower than the winners from the USA.
