Another succesful day for team Luxembourg at the 20th edition of the Games of the Smaller States of Europe, where they came away with numerous medals in: swimming, gymnastics, basketball, karate, and table tennis.
Swimming
In the 200m individual medley, Luxembourg's Finn Kemp delivered another standout performance, claiming gold in the men’s event. Teammate Florian Frippiat followed closely, securing silver. In the women’s race, Emma Barthel finished in a solid fifth place.
Lou Jominet added another bronze to her collection with a strong showing in the women’s 1500m freestyle.
In the 4x100m medley relay, Luxembourg’s women’s team placed fourth. Meanwhile, the men’s team clinched the silver medal, adding yet another podium finish to the Grand Duchy’s impressive swimming campaign.
Gymnastics
A very succesful day in gymnastics for the Grand-Duchy where in the vault final, Luxembourg’s Yan Kies secured the bronze medal with a score of 12.483 points. Gold went to Cyprus’ Kyriakos Markidis with 13.583 points, while his compatriot Georgios Angonas claimed silver with 12.700 points.
Luxembourg’s Valentina Marochi secured the silver medal in the beam final with a score of 12.550 points. Malta’s Sophie St. John took gold with 12.900 points, while Iceland’s Margrét Lea Kristinsdottir completed the podium in third place with 11.750 points.
Chiara Castellucci secured bronze for Luxembourg in the women’s vault final with a score of 12.400 points. Gold went to Malta’s Sophie St. John with 12.550 points, while Iceland’s Rakel Sara Petursdottir claimed silver with an impressive 15.525 points.
Ben Mangen added another medal to the tally, this time in the parallel bars event. He earned bronze with a score of 11.600 points. Gold went to Cyprus’ Georgios Angonas with 12.733 points, while Monaco’s Kévin Crovetto secured silver with 11.767 points.
Finally, Zofia-Kalina Kopczynski secured the bronze medal on the uneven bars with a score of 10.900. Gold went to Poranna Sveinsdottir from Iceland with 11.300 points, while Monaco’s Rebecca Casula took silver with 10.950 points.
Basketball
In the women's 3x3 basketball tournament at the 2023 Games of the Small States of Europe, Luxembourg's team – comprising Michelle Dittgen, Bridget Yoerger, Mikayla Ferenz, and Liz Irthum – secured the gold medal with an undefeated performance. They dispatched Andorra in the final, winning 21–4.
Karate
Pola Giorgetti claimed gold in the -68kg kumite category, defeating Liechtenstein’s Stella Sprenger 4-0 in the final. A remarkable achievement for Giorgetti, who returned to the tatami shortly after recovering from a cruciate ligament injury.

Tiago Serra Rodrigues claimed the silver medal for Luxembourg in the -84kg kumite category. In the final, he was defeated by Monaco’s Luke Galea. Furthermore, in Kata, Lucas Chaffort won silver.
Table tennis
Luxembourg’s table tennis players delivered a strong performance on day two, securing two gold medals in the singles events. Both Sarah De Nutte and Luka Mladenovic triumphed over tough competition from Malta to claim the top spots.
Enisa Sadikovic added to the success by taking home a bronze medal.
