Patrizia van der Weken on Tuesday showed a dominant display by winning the 60m dash at the World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold meeting in Ostrava, Czech Republic. The 25-year-old sprinter from Luxembourg took gold after completing the race in 7.08 seconds.
Though van der Weken narrowly missed out on beating the national 60m record – set by herself only two weeks ago – by a mere hundredth of a second, she did improve the national record for the 50m distance, which she completed in 6.12 seconds
At present, the world record over 50m stands at 5.96 seconds, set by Irina Privalova in 1995.
