The Luxemburgish cyclist achieved a remarkable feat in France, finishing second behind Welsh rider Zoe Backstedt, who took the title.

The European Cyclo-cross Championships were held this weekend in Pontchâteau, France.

And on Sunday morning, Luxembourg cyclist Marie Schreiber put in an excellent performance in the Under 23 women's race to take the silver medal.

The Luxembourger was 34 seconds behind new European champion Zoe Backstedt after around 49 minutes of racing. Kristyna Zemanova rounded off the podium, taking bronze just one minute and 11 seconds behind.

Luxembourg's Rick Meylender also took part in the junior race, finishing 54th, 5 minutes and 14 seconds behind European champion Aubin Sparfel of France.
