Tour de France LIVE: Carcassonne > FoixThe fourth stage on Tuesday from 3pm on RTL Télé and RTL Today

RTL Today
Watch the Tour de France live on RTL through to Sunday 26 July. The race will also be streamed live on RTL Today, the RTL app and RTL Play.

After just one day in the Pyrenees, the Tour de France leaves the high mountains behind again on this fourth stage. However, the day is far from straightforward. Over the 182 kilometres from the fortified city of Carcassonne to Foix, the riders will face four categorised climbs as well as a succession of smaller rises.

The route does not appear difficult enough to trigger a direct battle between the main general classification contenders. However, it could prove too demanding for the pure sprinters. This could open the door for a breakaway, for puncheurs capable of handling the climbs, or for sprinters who can stay with the pace over the hills. The key factor will be whether the peloton allows a breakaway to go, as well as the impact of the Col de Montségur, around 30 kilometres from the finish, and the speed at which it is tackled.

RTL’s coverage will be broadcast on RTL.lu and RTL Play.
