Fans gathered at Glacis for the World Cup knockout match between Spain and Portugal, with Spanish supporters celebrating a late winner and Portuguese fans left frustrated by the result.

Spanish supporters were all smiles after ninety minutes, as their team clinched victory in a hard-fought match against Portugal.

The atmosphere at Glacis, where many had gathered to follow the World Cup classic on the big screen, was electric throughout the game. For Portuguese fans, the evening ended in disappointment, especially given how even the match had been. Many felt their side deserved at least extra time.

Speaking to RTL after the final whistle, one Portugal fan said that the match should have gone to extra time, since “a goal like that in the very last moment is always a pity.”

Spanish fans, meanwhile, were in better spirits. The prevailing mood was one of relief and excitement after a tense encounter. “It was incredibly exciting and so stressful, but luckily we scored in the end. We are so happy,” a young Spanish woman told RTL.
