According to the three opposition parties, the ceasefire in the Middle East is a ceasefire in name only. They say war crimes against Palestinians are continuing and that Israel is pursuing an increasingly aggressive settlement policy.
They are calling for four concrete measures:
- a complete arms embargo against Israel
- a ban on the import and sale of products from illegal settlements in the Palestinian territories
- the power for financial regulator CSSF to refuse the issuance of Israeli debt through Luxembourg
- a national framework for autonomous sanctions
The LSAP, the Greens and the Left argue that "doing nothing is not an option".
On Thursday, the Chamber of Deputies will hold a debate on Luxembourg’s policy towards Israel.

Figure of the day
More than 1,500 people pedalled a total of 44,614km during the Luxembourg Transplant Indoor Cycling event at Luxexpo
- More than 1,500 participants took to around 300 stationary bikes in the Luxexpo convention centre on Sunday morning, united in an ambitious effort to promote organ donation and push the limits of endurance. The event, organised by Luxembourg Transplant, marked the 17th edition of the annual 'Indoor Cycling' challenge, which this year aimed to set a new Guinness World Record for the longest distance cycled collectively indoors in eight hours.
- The official target set by Guinness World Records required the group to surpass 15,000km, a figure they quickly surpassed. A Guinness World Records adjudicator was on site to review and certify the attempt. Organisers set their sights far higher than the official minimum: their goal was to collectively cover 40,000km, or the approximate circumference of the Earth at the equator, within the allotted eight hours.
