According to the three opposition parties, the ceasefire in the Middle East is a ceasefire in name only. They say war crimes against Palestinians are continuing and that Israel is pursuing an increasingly aggressive settlement policy.

They are calling for four concrete measures:

  • a complete arms embargo against Israel
  • a ban on the import and sale of products from illegal settlements in the Palestinian territories
  • the power for financial regulator CSSF to refuse the issuance of Israeli debt through Luxembourg
  • a national framework for autonomous sanctions

The LSAP, the Greens and the Left argue that "doing nothing is not an option".

On Thursday, the Chamber of Deputies will hold a debate on Luxembourg’s policy towards Israel.
