A phone call or writing a message online is for most people simple and uncomplicated, meaning no need for an appointment, no need to travel and everything remains confidential.
Annually we receive about 4000 calls and 450 online messages from people in various life situations:
This service is only possible thanks to our team of volunteers! All of them have followed a one-and-a-half-year training course given by professional psychologists.

Their daily task at SOS Détresse is to connect as an empathetic interlocutor with those who suffer.
We try to encourage people in situations of acute distress or in long-term difficult life situations to find access to inner peace, personal strengths and new perspectives in their life.
An important objective is also to support those seeking advice in learning to trust other people (again) and to accept their help.
Last year, the event Darkness Into Light Luxembourg confirmed just how large the English speaking community is in Luxembourg and above all how committed they are to helping and supporting those who are suffering. They showed us that there are many English-speaking people who wish to invest time and effort in volunteering, which is the core of SOS Détresse’s spirit.
Thanks to the organising committee of DILL, we came into contact with wonderful people who are helping us to translate all our official documents into English. This will allow us to offer training courses in English for all those who wish to volunteer at SOS Détresse. With their help, we will soon be able to offer a proper English-speaking support service by phone.
Working together with Darkness Into Light has therefore been very beneficial and rewarding for both parties and we hope you will walk with us again on 3 October.
