What is often seen as a disruption to daily life has, for some commuters, became an unexpected improvement.

I, work in Kirchberg and commute every day from the north of Luxembourg. Under normal circumstances, my journey takes around 1 hour and 20 minutes. It involves taking the tram to Pfaffenthal, then a train to Mersch, followed by a bus to my village – a multi-step journey that can be tiring and time-consuming.

However, during recent train maintenance works, replacement buses were introduced – and the impact has been remarkable.

These direct buses from Luxexpo to Mersch and Ettelbruck via the highway have reduced my travel time by nearly half. Instead of multiple transfers, the journey has become simpler, faster, and far more convenient.

Importantly, I am not alone in this experience. The buses are consistently full, clearly showing that many passengers benefit from this alternative. It demonstrates a real demand for such direct connections.

What was initially perceived as a temporary inconvenience has, in reality, proven to be a practical and efficient solution.

I would like to make a humble request to the public transport authorities in Luxembourg: please consider running these direct bus services on a regular basis, even beyond maintenance periods. Such an initiative would significantly improve daily commuting for many residents, especially those traveling from the north to Kirchberg.

Sometimes, solutions come from unexpected situations – and this is one worth keeping.
