It was Friday the 13th when I tested positive for covid-19.
I had had a dry cough a couple of days and being asthmatic, I wrote it off as an allergy.
My first reaction to the news was to be dumbfounded. Me? Seriously? But I am still young (42 is young!), eat healthy and do cardio regularly.
After accepting the diagnosis, I could either worry or stay calm and research. Knowledge is power, right?
I started googling for answers:
What happens to coronavirus patients?
What are the symptoms?
How long am I gonna be sick?
Will I start eating toilet paper?
Unfortunately, there was not much information.
Around me, in my circle, some people changed their behaviour.
At home it made sense, but I can’t infect people through social network or any network, this isn’t the Matrix. I didn’t need accusations that getting infected was my fault.
I realized that those people were reacting out of fear of this unknown virus.
Nobody knew the extent of what’s coming for us...
I decided to document my experience with covid-19 and go public to fill information gaps and to remove people’s fears.
My sickness, symptoms and eventual road to recovery are logged in videos, interviews and articles (see below links for more). Many people who saw my footage, thanked me.
I had a panoply of symptoms during the last 24 days of being sick. Some of them are lingering and will take weeks to recover from.
It is fatiguing but I will get there in the end, stronger and maybe with immunity for some time.
Some kind of superhero.
Let’s fight this virus and save lives by staying home to flatten the curve.
My doctor will contact me as soon as the immunity test is out and if it’s positive for me i will donate my blood so we can get a vaccine faster.
I am doing everything I can to help during this madness.
Thank you for your time,
Pascale
(Btw. I have a Facebook group for infected people to exchange our experience, symptoms, etc. I also have a YouTube channel, Facebook and Instagram with information.)
