TRADE DEAL CRITICISM – Fedil, a cross-sector economic federation in Luxembourg, has expressed strong dissatisfaction with the trade agreement reached between the European Union and the United States on Monday. While the deal may help ease transatlantic trade tensions, Fedil warned that it could negatively affect supply chains and increase price pressure on both sides of the Atlantic. Of particular concern is the reintroduction of a 15% tariff on European imports, a significant increase compared to the rates set in April. Luxembourg's industrial sector is especially alarmed by the continued 50% tariff on steel and aluminium imports from the EU, which will remain in place until both sides agree on a new percentage-based system.
POLICE TASERS – The Luxembourg government is currently creating a police service whose members will be equipped with tasers, following a coalition election promise. In the short term, the Operational Support Group will hand out tasers to 36 police officers who will be on duty 24/7. Their mission is to support the already existing police patrols in Luxembourg, so that they can be used in case of risky interventions – for instance in incidents of domestic violence.

Trump also shifted his tone on Gaza, acknowledging there were signs of "real starvation" in the conflict-ravaged Palestinian territory.
GAZA AID – Meanwhile, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz is meeting Jordan's King Abdullah today, a day after he unveiled plans to airlift aid into Gaza with Jordan’s help.
