GAZA PROTEST - On Saturday, around 200 protestors gathered in Luxembourg City to call for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza. People from a number of NGOs and political parties joined the demonstration. Former minister and LSAP MP Franz Fayot gave a speech at the event, alleging a massacre on the Palestinian population and a case of collective punishment. He said that he is ashamed over Europe's inability to stand up to the Israeli government and over Luxembourg's unwillingness to recognise Palestinian statehood.
TRAM EXTENSION - Luxembourg's tram network was officially expanded on Sunday with the inauguration of a new 3.7 km section connecting Luxexpo to Luxembourg Stadium, promising improved connectivity and increased passenger convenience. Tram passengers can now board the tram at the Luxexpo station in Kirchberg, in the north-east of the capital, and travel all the way to the south-west of the city to the Luxembourg Stadium near Cloche d'Or.
DEER ACCIDENT - On Saturday evening, emergency medical services were called to the CR186 between Bettembourg and Kockelsheuer after a motorcyclist hit a deer, leaving the motorcyclist injured. Emergency services from Bettembourg and firefighters from Luxembourg City were also on the scene.

FRENCH ELECTIONS - France faces its most severe political uncertainty in decades as President Macron navigates the fallout from legislative elections that left no party with an absolute majority. With Prime Minister Gabriel Attal's potential resignation and the left emerging as the largest but divided group in parliament, forming a new government before the Paris Olympics remains unclear. The results were a major disappointment for the far-right National Rally of Marine Le Pen, even if her forces are set to boast about their biggest ever contingent in parliament.
GAZA HOSTAGE HOPES - A Hamas official said Sunday the Palestinian Islamist group was ready to discuss a hostage release deal with Israel even without a "complete" ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. The apparent easing of Hamas's position comes as long-stalled diplomatic efforts to secure a ceasefire and hostage release have gathered pace with a new proposal and meetings hosted by Qatari and Egyptian mediators.
ORBAN TOUR - Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban met Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing on Monday, state media reported, in a visit the European leader has branded as a "Peace mission 3.0" after recent trips to Moscow and Kyiv. The unannounced visit comes a day before NATO is due to hold a summit to mark its 75th anniversary, with setbacks in Ukraine set to dominate discussions, and follows Orban's surprise trips to Russia and Ukraine in the past week.
TROPICAL STORM BERYL - Parts of coastal Texas were evacuated over warnings of flooding and power outages as the southern US state braced for the Monday arrival of Beryl, which was threatening to make landfall as a hurricane. The US National Hurricane Center said in its latest update that winds were reaching 110 kilometers per hour as the tropical storm approached and was forecast to regain hurricane status before hitting the Texas coast. Beryl is expected to make landfall between the port city of Corpus Christi and Galveston Island early Monday.

TENNIS - World number two Coco Gauff was sent crashing out of Wimbledon by American compatriot Emma Navarro on Sunday. Gauff's 6-4, 6-3 fourth round defeat means that only two of the top 10 women's seeds are left in the tournament.
Meanwhile World number three Carlos Alcaraz defeated French 16th seed Ugo Humbert 6-3, 6-4, 1-6, 7-5 to make the quarter-finals of a Grand Slam for the ninth time in just 14 appearances.
ATHLETICS
At a meeting of the Diamond League in Paris, Patrizia van der Weken won the 100 meters race on Sunday. With a time of 11.06 seconds, the Luxembourger was just 0.06 seconds over her Luxembourgish record. It was the first time that the Luxembourgish athlete had participated in such an event.
Weather
It's a pretty average day weather-wise, with clouds in the sky, but the sun should peek through... At least a bit!
In the morning, the sun has the upper hand, but those pesky clouds will roll in as the day goes on. The good news? No rain in sight! With a little luck, the sun might just triumph over those stubborn Luxembourgish clouds.
Morning temperatures will range from 11-13°C, rising to a potentially whopping 22°C in the afternoon (WOW) and we should have a pleasant evening at around 19°C.
