On Saturday, around 200 protestors gathered in Luxembourg City to call for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza. People from a number of NGOs and political parties joined the demonstration, organised by the Committee for a Just Peace in the Middle East, including members of The Left (Déi Lénk), The Greens (Déi Gréng), the Luxembourg Socialist Workers' Party (LSAP), the Communist Party of Luxembourg (KPL), and the Independent Luxembourg Trade Union Confederation (OGBL).
Former minister and LSAP MP Franz Fayot gave a speech at the event, alleging a massacre on the Palestinian population and a case of collective punishment. He said that he is ashamed over Europe's inability to stand up to the Israeli government and over Luxembourg's unwillingness to recognise Palestinian statehood.
Greens president Djuna Bernard is also in favour of recognising the state of Palestine, as she shared on her social media in light of the protest in the capital. She encouraged protesters to resort to their democratic means to express anger toward the Israeli government. However, she also urged them not to direct their anger towards Jewish people or the people of Israel as a whole.
According to the police, no notable incidents occurred at the event.
