Two of three opinions concluded that the contract of the Ministry for the Environment with the contractor running the “SuperDrecksKëscht” had no legal basis. These were revealed by RTL on Tuesday afternoon, leading to some upheaval among MPs trying to find the whistleblower among them.

The three opinions should have remained secret, the responsible commission within the Conference of Presidents had decided on Monday. Only MPs should have access, at least until the next day, when the Minister for the Environment Carole Dieschbourg would be able to consult them.

Talking to the press about documents was not prohibited, said Sven Clement on Tuesday evening, defending his interview with RTL. After all, the Chamber of Deputies had already communicated on the subject on its website. A little scandal erupted when co-president Meris Sehovic from Déi Gréng had told RTL on Tuesday morning that he had already read the opinions. Parliamentary group president Josée Lorsch argued that the documents could be forwarded to other members of the parliamentary group. Judging by the protests in the room, not all MPs shared that opinion.

The opinions are no longer sealed following a unanimous resolution voted by Déi Gréng on Tuesday evening. A debate on the subject in the Commission is planned for next Monday. Until then, MPs can keep looking for leaks in their own ranks.
