The draft bill is based on an EU directive on whistleblowers.

In the future, every person who falls under the definition of this law will be able to benefit from special protection if they release information in the context of their work. The individual will neither be at risk of losing their job, nor of being demoted within the company, the Minister specified.

The draft bill aims at finding a balance between protecting whistleblowers but also companies, in order to avoid information being leaked out of vengeance or to avoid a termination of the employment contract.

In this context, a ‘Reporting Office’ under the supervision of the Ministry of Justice will be created to assist and advise people wishing to make such reports.
