Participating in Europol's 'Crime has no gender' campaign, Luxembourg shared the profiles of three men wanted for crimes on Luxembourgish territory. The Grand Duchy had put out international arrest warrants for all three men, including Cihan Guzel.
"Most Wanted": Discover the three fugitives sought throughout the EU for crimes in LuxembourgThe 34-year-old Belgian of Turkish origin was sentenced to 22 years in prison for a violent attack and armed robbery on the G4S headquarters in Gasperich in April 2013. Back then, the incident devolved into an intense shootout with the police.

Guzel had been travelling through Spain with a fake ID. His escape from Luxembourg took him through Brussels, the north of France and Italy, after he fled following a rejection of his appeal by the Court of Cassation. The public prosecutor's office specified that European contacts involved the Spanish Fugivite Active Search Teams (FAST) about the possibility of Guzel being in Marbella.
Luxembourgish, Belgian and Spanish authorities collaborated in order to ensure his capture. The two other individuals involved in the armed robbery are already imprisoned in Luxembourg.
Guzel will now be brought back to Luxembourg and incarcerated in Schrassig Prison.
