PoliceTwo muggings and several burglaries reported across the country

Police have reported a number of incidents across the Grand Duchy this weekend.

A mugging took place at Place d’Armes in the capital on Saturday evening.

Around 9.30 p.m., a couple were making their way towards Hamilius when a man approached them from behind. He wrapped his arm around the neck of one his victims and stole a gold necklace, which only came to the victim’s attention when it was already too late.

Another man was mugged at a cashpoint in Avenue de la Gare at 11.00 p.m. on Saturday. The perpetrator pushed the victim away and fled with the money in the direction of Rue de Strasbourg.

The police further report that a number of burglaries occurred, affecting houses in the following towns: Goeblange, Walferdange, Waldbillig, Itzig, Uebersyren, and Kirchberg. Furthermore, burglars broke into basements and garages in Bettembourg, Rodange, and Hollerich.

Friday

A man caught the attention of officers in Avenue de la Gare on Friday evening after running away when he saw the police car approach. Officers were able to stop the man in Rue Glesener and found that he had dropped a socket with cocaine packages in the street. Officers seized a phone and cash from the man, who was later presented to an examining magistrate.
