The Zurich Student Ball has taken place every Christmas evening since 1960, except during the pandemic, and regularly attracts thousands of young people.

The 63rd edition of the Zurich Student Ball was held on Christmas Day 2025. Over 4,000 young people flocked to Luxexpo where they partied until the early hours of Boxing Day. The traditional ball has been held at the exhibition halls in Kirchberg nine times so far, with previous venues including the capital’s theatre, the Parc Hotel in Dommeldange, and the Rockhal in Belval.

The dress code distinguishes this ball from other student parties, as organisers expect their guests to turn up in chic outfits.

Guests were already queueing outside the Luxexpo from 11pm on Christmas Day, with the assembled crowd stretching all the way back to the car park. The chance to see former classmates and school friends contributed to the jovial atmosphere, as many students leave Luxembourg to study abroad and struggle to keep up with their friends after graduation.

Music was provided by a live band, the Noisemakers, and a number of DJs.
