One of the report's main findings is that spring 2020 was too dry in Luxembourg. The unusually dry weather had a negative impact on agriculture. The last months were 1°C above the average temperatures measures between 1981 and 2010.

Spring was not only too hot but also too dry, the report found: it did not rain at all between mid-March and the end of April.

Temporary frost also damaged fruit cultivations after Easter. The authors of the report stressed that cultivations in general suffered of the last months, referring to a "worrying lack of water."

Luxembourg is not alone in this regard: many other European regions suffered from an excessively hot and dry spring.

The European Commission expects this year's harvest to fall on the smaller side compared to previous years.
