On Wednesday afternoon, the Court of Appeals adjusted the sentence of a man initially charged with one count of attempted murder. Following the appeal trial, the man has now been charged with two counts of attempted murder.

The trial concerned events in July 2017, when the assailant attempted to kill a woman by stabbing in Kockelscheuer. The victim suffered at least three stab wounds to the neck.

The assailant also stood accused of having attempted to kill his stepsister, having pursued her with a knife.

In the first trial, the judges ruled that the second incident was not a count of attempted murder. Concerning this issue, the judges of the second trial have deviated from the initial ruling.

The judges charged the man with two counts of attempted murder, sentencing him to 16 years of prison. Four of those years are a suspended sentence.
