After the perimeter was introduced on 4 December following riots during a protest against the Covid-19 measures, “the time has come to re-evaluate the situation,” Minister of Internal Security Henri Kox explained during a press briefing.
Notably, the Minister pointed out that the municipality of Luxembourg City and the police now have a contact person with whom they can talk and ensure that protests remain orderly. Recent demonstrations also showed the return of a “respectful interaction” between protesters and the police.
