Just as businesses must adapt to new technologies, education must also adapt to train individuals in these new technologies. Some of Luxembourg’s secondary schools will offer different courses as of September, including the opportunity to gain a bachelor’s degree in animation. Previously, this was only offered as a Brevet de Technicien Supérieur (BTS).

The bachelor’s degree is also expected to be further expanded in the future. Five different secondary schools will also be offering qualifications in technical education under the umbrella of ‘Smart Technologies’. This stream of education is replacing the earlier electricians training in secondary schools. Mainly, this incorporates both electronics and IT training, specifically focusing on domains such as robotics, using automation in homes, and new forms of energy.

Mechatronics will be a further stream of education awarded with the qualification of being a technician. Previously, those pursuing mechatronic engineering in schools could only gain the DAP, the Professional Aptitude Diploma.
Finally, schools are providing training in some job-orientated courses in multiple languages. The Smart Technologies course is offered entirely in English in one secondary school, given the English requirements of the industry in question.
