Sandweiler’s former municipal council, made up of the Christian Social People’s Party (CSV) and The Greens, adopted a new logo for the town just before going to the polls in June.
However, the newly-elected coalition of Democratic Party (DP) and Luxembourg Socialist Workers’ Party (LSAP) did not take kindly to this change of visual identity and the dispute between the two political groups responsible intensified just after the election results were announced.
In order to prevent the Sandweiler municipality from completely changing its look, at least on official communications, buildings, banners, and vehicles, the new municipal leaders finally took the decision to cancel the new logo.
According to a Tageblatt report on Saturday, the sum of €38,689 has been spent for nothing since the new logo will no longer be used. This sum was confirmed by Mayor Jacqueline Breuer (LSAP) at Friday’s local council meeting.
