The cause of the discontent is the new logo for the municipality of Sandweiler, introduced by the previous majority in their final days of office. The new majority is now hoping to prevent the logo’s implementation on municipal vehicles and staff clothing.

The new logo, described by the incoming majority as a ‘dull, unaesthetic, black and white logo that says nothing,’ is set to appear online, on the façade of the municipality, on service vehicles, staff clothing, and stationery. These changes are expected to take place in the coming days.

The DP and LSAP have voiced their regret that the decision was not discussed in any of the municipal council meetings. Furthermore, they claim to have been left in the dark regarding the costs of the replacement works.

The new majority argues that transparency and citizen participation, which were highlighted in the CSV and Green Party election programmes, appear to be nothing more than empty promises.

A protest meeting was held on Saturday morning in response to the decision. The incident underscores the importance of transparency and consultation in decision-making processes, particularly when it comes to changes that will impact the visual identity of a community.
