The issue was recently brought up in a parliamentary enquiry by MP Max Hahn (DP), to which Ministers Bausch and Delles have now provided an official response. During the summer months, some of the country's roads will once again be closed off for car traffic in an attempt to improve the safety of cyclists.
Following last year's success, Luxembourgish municipalities were able to file proposals for closures with the respective roads' authorities. This can either happen on specific weekends, or throughout the summer. However, officials first need to evaluate whether or not a road can be closed off for car traffic without causing too many disruptions.
Next week, the selection of roads is scheduled to be officially presented.
